I have had a worm compost bin for about ten years. Never had to purchase
additional worms (red wigglers) as the population is naturally stabilizing. I keep the bin in my kitchen, there is no odor and they do an amazing job of
reducing kitchen scraps and recyclable paper to beneficial compost in very little time. The worm castings can be fermented to create compost tea. Multi-layer bins provide the oportunity to allow the worm population to grow offering a barter idea. One of the best home methods for creating beneficial
fertilizer.
