With Specific Gravity of 0.069 [ H3, Deuterium is 0.070] the diatomic Hydrogen H2 molecule is the lightest gas, is highly reactive, and explosive, think Hindenburg. With only a single bond to break in combustion, Hydrogen has the lowest energy density of any fuel. Compression or liquefaction for use as transport fuel requires more energy than H2 combustion releases. Hydrogen as electric “fuel cell” power requires more energy to produce Hydrogen from electrolysis of water or fractional distillation from petroleum than the fuel cell produces. Hydrogen is another Jack in the Beanstalk solution for science impaired simpletons.
