Being a knowledge seeker, this tool was a blessing, the ability to listen to the knowledge of the world on my headphones, yet even increasing the time tethered to the device. Though I rarely used the social media aspect of the tether, those around me became and still are addicted to the point that their every spare moment is usurped with this tether of social media. Many people became very frustrated with me for not participating in their digital online lives, claiming that I was not wanting to communicate with them, ignoring them, being rude, etc. They are still unable to understand and now that I have severed my tether to this constant connection even more upset with me, to the point they offer to purchase a tether for me. Sigh, they just don’t understand. Just as I recognized what the lifetime sucking addiction to the television set was doing to me, that I turned off 15 years ago, so was this tether to the digital world then through personal calamities and the acquired wisdom from the events I severed this connection, not completely, as you can tell by my presence here, I still maintain an email address that allows me participation in the Internet via computer.
What I’ve experienced since removing this tether.
People have became a number, specifically their tether number, assigned to you, paid for by you, and now you are recognized as this number. This is how the digital world addresses you. When you make a connection this number is the identifier of the operator of this tether, a node, maybe a better description. Under this number you are now identified, a history of everything one does is stored under this number, The interactions with businesses requires this number to allow your participation in their domains. To the point that without this identifier you cannot use their services. As a recent example, I was unable to use a discount card at a convenience store as I could not enter a number to be recognized by the system. The store manager explained to me that they now require this association. This tether number is required on most every application for service within the digital world, always asked for on every application now in the material world so that you can be identified in the digital world.
No longer is this a way of contact, it is the persons identification. In my opinion this is the beast system now overtaking the human domain entering humans into the world of machines. I don’t know at what point in which this heads, however I do know that without this number it is now virtually impossible to do business and is ever increasingly difficult to gain access without your number.
I will close now as my allotted time in this domain has been exceeded already, I will leave you to ponder these thoughts.
