My dear sister,
For whatever reasons, I recall the day that I heard of the family death over the news. I was struck. I don’t know if it was the fact that the news described Charles as a Black millioniare or what, but I was struck that I didn’t get to meet him or know him during his life. I felt that I should have known him. Oakland is an extremely dangerous place for a Black financial and Intellectual genius. You have to go through the Looking Glass to realize it. I feel that some of the good brothers and sisters should have surrounded him. We should have been there. We should have been close to him.

Charles Alex Gregory, Sr. was truly a quiet and gentle giant. Charles, a family man, and a man who cherished his christian values, never waivered from his values. The City of Oakland, was more than highly blessed to have Charles Alex Gregory, Sr, make his home there. The work and assets he brought to that city, is untold. The told assets are hard to identify, identity hidden, and the assets identified were deliberately annihilated by the powers that are. You may be one who is benefitting from the wit, and determination of Mr Gregory, and dont know it. Seek knowledge about his life and work. You may find you indirectly, if not directly have gratitude for his man, some men want no one to know.
